Abstract

Because of the fundamental importance of heterocyclic compounds in living system, formation of these compounds has received attention of organic chemists for the development of new and more efficient synthetic approaches. Different cyclization reactions are available for the synthesis of five- and six-membered ring systems, but methods for the preparation of seven-, eight-, and nine-membered ring heterocyclic compounds are not as abundant. The medium rings are challenging to synthesize due to entropic and enthalpic factors. Due to the widespread occurrence of such structural motifs and their employment as building blocks, the diversity-oriented formation of eight-membered O-heterocyclic compounds is an important task.
