Abstract

AbstractSony introduced a new HDTV television set into the market in November 1998. There are some advances in display technology that set it apart from other products which are being introduced. The flat screen “FD Trinitron” is a 34V 36 inch CRT in which the front surface is completely flat. The picture is therefore free from geometric distortions that other CRT's exhibit. The DRC Digital Reality Creator circuit transforms analog NTSC signals into high definition TV video by not only doubling the horizontal lines, but by increasing the horizontal resolution as well. This gives the viewer an almost HDTV quality picture from a standard NTSC video source. The MID Multi‐Image Driver takes images of any scan format and displays them together on the television screen. The images can be real‐time scaled to different sizes.
