Abstract

We demonstrate active coherent beam combining of two monolithic Tm-doped fiber amplifiers and the combined output power reaches 108 W. Two single-frequency master oscillator power amplifiers (MOPAs) were built up with output powers above 50 W. The single-frequency dithering technique was employed to perform the active phase-locking. The central wavelength locates at 1971.5 nm. The fringe contrast is improved from 0 in open loop to 0.96 in closed loop. The phase noise below 400 Hz has been well compensated. The output power is limited by available pump power and higher combined output power can be achieved if more pump LDs and/or more MOPAs are employed.
