Abstract

Abstract Programme music is one of the most important creation generes in 19th century. This quality also represent in Liszt’s piano compositions.《Annees de Pelerinage》is a travelog that note down what is seen and heard while Liszt traveling in Switzerland and Italy, and his introspection to religion later in life, which is also closely linked with literature、sculpture and painting. Liszt uses “Thematic Transformation” in the compositions 、 and to represent different kinds of styles. The thesis is divided into five chapters.Chapter one is the background of 19th century and the meaning of the programme music. Chapter two is Liszt’s life and his musical style. Chapter three is the background of 《Annees de Pelerinage》and 、 and . Chapter four and Chapter five analyze the musical structures and the performance practice toward these three compositions.
