Abstract
Diabetes and its complications cause significant morbidity and mortality. Vascular endothelial cells (ECs) dysfunction, caused by oxidative stress, is a main mechanism of cell damage. Oxidative stress accelerates EC senescence and DNA damage. As mitochondria are the site of production of oxidative stress, we examined mitochondrial SIRTs (mtSIRTs) in glucose induced oxidative stress, ECs senescence and their regulation by specific miRNAs.
