Abstract

ECMO is used for cardiogenic shock as a bridge to heart transplant (HTx) or durable mechanical circulatory support (DMCS). Currently, ECMO is being considered the highest priority for donor heart allocation in the US. HTx directly after ECMO has been reported to have poor outcome. ECMO followed by DMCS as a bridge to HTx may have a better outcome but this is not well established. We assessed the outcomes of ECMO patients (pts) who were directly transplanted or bridged with DMCS.
