Abstract

The high precision technology in the optical industry is established for small optical components. On the other hand, in recent year, the high precision geometric shape and surface roughness are required for a large glass product molding process. In the comparing of a glass optical component and a metal product such as aluminum, a cost of glass optical components is lower than metal one. In this research, a molding method for glass optical component is investigated. As a result, a thin glass plate is formed with a cylindrical shape stainless steel molding die in the electric furnace, and it is fined that the formed plate surface is influenced by a molding die surface. Based on that result, a large molding die polishing machine to manufacture a high precision surface is designed with 3D-CAD system. Therefore, a low cost optical components technique is going to be established.
