Abstract

AbstractNetwork communications transmit data as the foundation for the deployment of Net‐Centric Operations (NCO). The data are transferred through a series of layers. These layers form the Architecture Reference Model (ARM). The applicability of several ARMs were presented and discussed. The ARMs can be classified to internet application, military/government application, general (commercial and military) application and company/organizational application. Some of the ARMs are related and augmented each other. Each ARM was developed for a different purpose. There are no good or bad ARMs. The architecture models are developed from the ARM. It is necessary to understand the modeling techniques and systems architecting methods to develop architecture models.
