Abstract

The temporal variation of electron density of shocked Ar plasma, generated with a T-shaped electromagnetic shock tube, were measured by a CO_2 laser heterodyne interferometer with 20MHz beat signals produced by an acousto-optic modulator. The interference signal is detected by HgCdTe detector. This signal and reference signal from AOM driver were inputted into phase comparator, and outputted cos and sin functions with phase difference between two signals. Then, these were recorded by digital storage oscilloscope, and computed to determined phase difference. As a result, high resolution measurements for fast moving plasma were achieved. And, PIN photodiode array for measured shock speed were used.
