Abstract
Massachusetts is the first state in the country to require school-based verbal screening to identify and intervene around youth substance use risk. Successfully implementing screening strategies hinges on understanding youth behavior in the context of their own beliefs, as well as that of their parents. We sought to investigate youth beliefs toward substance use screening in schools and associations with youth substance use behaviors and perceptions of their parents’ attitudes toward substance use.
