Abstract A discriminator circuit for use with nanosecond pulses at high repetition rates is described. Fast tunnel diodes are used in both the discriminating and pulse shaping stages. The effect of circuit parameters on the operation of the tunnel diode stages is discussed, and the results of various measurements on the performance of the circuit are given.
