Abstract

We demonstrate ultrahigh-speed data transmission at a symbol rate of 100 Gbaud in a nonlinear frequency division multiplexing (NFDM) system with continuous spectrum (CS) modulation. Neural network (NN)-based equalization schemes enable the transmission of 100 Gbaud polarization division multiplexed (PDM) 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) over 560 km of standard single-mode fiber (SSMF), with the bit-error-rate (BER) below the 25% overhead soft-decision forward error-correction (SD-FEC) threshold of 4 × 10−2.
