Abstract

In prepubertal girls, vulvovaginal symptoms may be localized to the clitoris. Young children often do not have the words to describe the sensation of clitoral stimulation and as such, they may use descriptors such as “itch” or “hurt.” Because of the difficulty in characterizing clitoral sensitivity, clinicians may struggle to resolve symptoms. We report a series of prepubertal patients for whom topical estrogen cream, applied to the clitoral prepuce, successfully resolved the discomfort.
