Abstract

Ten years ago, on 23 November 2001, the Council of Europe opened the Convention on Cybercrime for signature. This convention was designed to serve as a global framework to harmonize legislation - which is considered an important element in the fight against Cybercrime. The need to address Cybercrime is as current today as it was in 2001 - the challenges related to the fight against Cybercrime have even increased. The tenth anniversary of the Convention should, therefore, be taken as an opportunity to review whether the aims of the Council of Europe have been achieved and to determine the implications for future activities of regional and international organisations in the field of Cybercrime.
