Abstract

Filamentous fungi have long been used in fermentation processes and represent an important platform for industrial enzyme production. Easy cultivation, stress resistance, and high yield enzyme production along with the ability of enzyme secretion to the medium are particular advantages of filamentous fungi. Despite these advantages, implementation of the industrial enzyme production by filamentous fungi is associated with practical problems. This chapter focuses on the current state-of-art studies in different platforms of filamentous fungi cultivation for enzyme production. Current challenges and strategies to improve the development of enzyme production by filamentous fungi have also been highlighted in this chapter.
