Abstract
This chapter discusses novel deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) delivery systems based on emerging nanotechnology such as nanoparticles and nano-sized biological molecules. It first studies the mechanism for DNA/RNA delivery and reviews recent breakthroughs of such nano-delivery systems for gene therapy, tissue/organ function improvement, disease treatment as well as molecular imaging utilities. This chapter then illustrates applications and future prospects which make direct nano-based DNA/RNA delivery vehicles smaller, safer and more versatile.
