Abstract

A 10-GHz optical soliton transmission experiment was performed in a recirculating fiber loop in which the carrier frequency was slowly shifted by an acousto-optic modulator with respect to an optical bandpass filter to simulate the sliding-frequency effect. The soliton pulses were transmitted over 4000 km without any significant change in pulse width.
