Abstract

A quantum dot (QD) photoluminescence device with high color purity and a wide color gamut was demonstrated on the basis of a microcavity structure consisting of a QD‐polymer composite layer between semi‐transparent metal films. The underlying concept relies primarily on the coupling effect between the transmission spectrum of the microcavity and the emission spectrum of QDs. The full width at half maximum of our color device was shown to be less than 15 nm under optimal conditions. Our microcavity‐based approach provides a viable way of achieving ultrahigh color purity and a wide color gamut for future display applications.
