Abstract

Pb-Ag alloys (Ag contents 0.5∼1.0%) are generally used as insoluble anode. We have prepared samples of Pb-Ag (Ag contents 0∼2.5%) alloys. We have done the corrosion tests in both H2SO4 solution and super-saturated (NH4)2SO4 solution.According to our investigation, samples contain Ag up to about 0.2% showed superior anti-corrosive property. As mentioned above, we believe that material containing a limited quantity of Ag will be sufficient for the anti-corrosive purpose instead of expensive alloys of high% Ag.Though Mr. Seith has published on the defined solid solubility limit of Pb-Ag alloys, we are now investigating again the solid solubility limit of these alloys whether they are related to the corrosive property or not.
