Abstract
One-year-old male beagle dog with weakness, anorexia and vomiting during one week, was radiographically suspected to have intestinal perforation and obstruction due to a foreign body, and exploratory laparotomy disclosed perforation of the small intestine by a sewing needle and accordion-like intestinal pleating due to the obstructive tangled thread. Since the involved intestine was markedly degenerated and necrotized, the affected part of the intestine about 1 m in length was resected. After operation the animal did not exhibit short gut syndrome such as sustained diarrhea and malnutrition, and prognosis was satisfactory.
