Abstract
Condensation of mesitylenecarbonitrile oxide with 2-methyl-4-phenyl-3H-[1,5]benzodiazepine leads to the title compound, C 26 H 25 N 3 O. It has been established that 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition occurs on the N1=C2 double bond of the benzodiazepine. The oxadiazole ring is practically planar while the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation.
