Abstract

Four compounds were isolated from the root bark of Tripterygium wilfordii. One of them is a new compound whose structure was proved to be 1-hydroxy-2,5,8-trimethyl-9-fluorenone. The others were identified as 3-hydroxy-2-oxo-D: A-friedoolean-3-en-29-oic acid, oleana-11,13(18)-dien-3-one and 3-furoic acid, and their presence in this species is reported for the first time.
