Abstract

An experimental 1 Gbit/s, 120mW, differential phase shift keying (DPSK) communications system has been demonstrated at 830 nm with an external phase modulator and an injection-locked diode array. A comparison of the bit error rate with and without the injection-locked array showed no degradation. This is the highest power DPSK result reported to date.
