Abstract

There is a lack of inclusion of marginalized populations in ASD studies. Studies have found that there are no significant differences in willingness to participate in research across racial and ethnic groups, suggesting that lack of inclusion is related to systemic barriers and not lack of interest. It is imperative that researchers increase accessibility by addressing barriers to research participation that disproportionately affect marginalized groups. This study seeks to examine whether conducting home visits (HVs) can improve research participation access for marginalized populations in the Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge (SPARK) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC).
