Abstract

Adolescents with MDD demonstrate preclinical markers of cardiovascular disease. A hypothesized mechanism of this association is through inflammatory pathways. In addition, exposure to psychosocial stressors, such as parent-child conflictual relationships, is a key risk factor for depression and heightened levels of inflammation; however, the mechanism through which these factors interact is less clear. This study examines the interactive effects of depression and parent-child conflict on inflammation in youth.
