Abstract
AbstractFerrocenes bearing dialkylaluminum substituents in the 1,1′‐positions were characterized as their dipyridine adducts, and it was shown that they can be transformed into dinuclear alkylaluminum‐bridged [1.1]ferrocenophanes and finally into the trinuclear aluminum‐bridged ferrocenophane, both as dipyridine adducts. The synthesis of the latter compound was optimized and found to be most efficient (>40 % yield) through the reaction of 1,1′‐dilithioferrocene with MeAlCl2. The molecular structures of the dinuclear and trinuclear complexes were determined by X‐ray crystallography. The solution‐state structures of the new compounds were studied by multinuclear magnetic resonance methods, including 1H–1H NOE difference experiments.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
