Abstract

Blowout is of great concern in the measurement of dustfall using dust deposition gauges. In this paper, internal baffles installed on the bottom surface of a gauge to reduce the strength of recirculating eddy within the gauge are proposed. Extensive computational studies reveal that significant reductions in the skin-friction coefficient and hence marked improvement of blowout characteristics may be effected by the installation of baffles.
