089 Complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS): Gonadectomy, hormonal replacement therapy and bone mineral density

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of pre- or post-pubertal gonadectomy, coupled with subsequent hormonal replacement therapy, on bone mineral density in CAIS patients. Study Design: Retrospective cross-sectional study with in a tertiary referral pediatric and adolescent gynecology unit. The population consisted of Sixteen CAIS patients with diagnosis made on the basis of clinical phenotype, 46XY karyotype and mutational analysis of androgen receptor gene. Data were collected from medical records.
