Abstract

PGAD is defined as persistent, unwanted, intrusive, distressing feelings of genital arousal or being on the verge of orgasm (genital dysesthesia), not associated with concomitant sexual interest, thoughts, or fantasies. This definition does not take into account young girls who are not yet sexual, either pre-pubertal and early teens, but who identify as long-term “frequent” masturbators. This often includes masturbation in public places, resulting in their being labeled behavior children, as they cannot control their “needs”, expressing that they have unrelenting “feelings” or “buzzing” in “their privates”. The goal of this study is to report on the detailed biopsychosocial assessments performed on young girls with PGAD. Three young patients, each accompanied by a parent, underwent a detailed biopsychosocial assessment for distressing PGAD. The 13 year old described PGAD “feelings” since age 6, the 14 year old since age 11 ½, and the 10 year old since age 6.
