Abstract

Objectives: Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) is defined as at least 4 months of amenorrhea in association with menopausal levels of follicle stimulating hormone in women younger than age 40 years. In adolescence, POI is most commonly due to genetic and iatrogenic causes. When POI is diagnosed early with an evidence of an ovarian reserve, fertility preservation can be offered by ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTCP). We aimed to evaluate which ovarian reserve parameters imply about ovarian activity before OTCP, in order to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures.
