Abstract

As the world faces more and more public security threatens, novel technologies are needed to detect weapons, explosives and other dangerous items concealed on human bodies. Terahertz waves, operating frequency range is beyond 0.3 THz, that can penetrate people’s clothes have offered a potential solution to this problem. Effective operating distance will play an important role in each current and future room temperature Terahertz Imaging System, what is important is that, at this present stage, the mainly bottleneck problem is the achievement of the terahertz source. Moreover, schottky barrier diodes are uniquely important as the critical non-linear element in room temperature detectors and frequency multiplied sources. In this Invited talk, the recent research advances in 0.3-0.4 THz Solid State Active Multiplier Chain Technology in SIMIT, CAS for current and future THz Imaging System Application, are reviewed.
