Abstract

48 × 10 Gbit/s WDM signals have been successfully transmitted over 7760 km with a Q factor of > 15.6 dB. Using broadband gain equalisation and a higher-order dispersion managed line, an available optical pass bandwidth in excess of 28 nm has been obtained.
