Abstract

trans-Pentacarbonylrhenio-tetracarbonylcarbyne complexes of chromium and tungsten react with trimethylphosphane to give binuclear transition metalylid complexes (I, II) carrying one bridging ylid as well as a bridging carbonyl ligand in addition to a metal to metal σ-bond. Excess of trimethylphosphane leads to substitution of one (III), at higher temperatures of two metal-bonded carbonyl ligands, respectively (IV, V). The reaction conditions, the results of spectroscopic measurements and the X-ray structure of III are reported.
