Abstract

Enhancement of tensile strength of the yarned carbon nanotube (CNT) fiber by organic solvent treatment for use of current sensing resistor (CSR) in battery management system was investigated. The organic solvent treatment was done by dipping the CNT fiber into ethanol as organic solvent. For the physical analysis of the CNT fiber, tensile strength was measured by micro-tester, revealing that about 36.4% of tensile strength was enhanced by the organic solvent treatment. For the electrical analysis, resistance and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) were measured, however they did not show any meaningful differences between before and after the organic solvent treatment. Consequently, the organic solvent treatment was effective method to serve enhancement of tensile strength without changing electrical properties of the CNT fiber.
