Abstract
The paper analyzes the process and results of studying ethnographic collections of Altai Krai museums at the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. Scientific novelty of the research is determined by the lack of works on the history of studying Altai Krai museums’ ethnographic collections. The author identifies the basic trends in studying the museums’ ethnographic collections, reveals the conditions promoting development of museum ethnography and ethnographic museology in the region, evaluates efficiency of the conducted research. The findings justify the necessity to continue studying and cataloging ethnographic collections so as to introduce them into scientific circulation and to ensure their efficient use in museum, educational and excursion and tourist activities.
