Abstract

At the beginning of the 20th century the Bolshoe Murashkino village in the Nizhny Novgorod province remained the largest center of sheepskin and fur production in Russia and one of the main suppliers of sheepskin and fur goods at the Nizhny Novgorod fair. In the article, based on data from annual reports on fair trade, the assortment of Murashkino goods, which consisted of five groups, was studied, the names of the varieties of sheepskin and fur products of each of them are listed, and it has been also revealed by what signs a variety name was determined. A comparison with the assortment of other centers of domestic sheepskin and fur production has been carried out. The conclusion has been done that, in general, the Murashkinsky assortment was exceptional in terms of variety of types, especially dressed sheepskin and fur semi-finished products.
