Abstract
The article is devoted to studying the foreign-policy activity of one of the most influential feudal owners of the Eastern Caucasus, Kaitag utsmi Amir-Khamza, in the second half of the XVIII century, in the conditions of the Russian Empire’s advance and consolidation in the region. Basing on the analysis of sources, the author thoroughly reveals the historical situation in the Western Caspian region, covers the policy of military confrontation and active diplomatic manoeuvring implemented by Amir-Khamza of Kaitag and other Dagestan khans between themselves and with the leading world and regional players of that period.
