Abstract

The work of nurses requires endurance, causes a high psycho-emotional load, and the professional activity itself involves a high percentage of factors that cause stress. Objective: to assess the work ability of nurses according to WAI questionnaires, depending on professional experience. Research methods: The objects of study were nurses. Physiological, sociological and statistical methods were used. Results: nurses had significant changes in the Work Ability Index (WAI) in the course of their work. The highest WAI was observed in the first probation group (up to 10 years) and corresponded to the level of «good working ability», in the third and fourth groups (21‑30 and more than 30 years) — the level of «satisfactory working ability». The assessment of work ability by WAI is confirmed by indicators characterizing personal anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate variability, reflecting the activity of various parts of the autonomic nervous system. Conclusion. The method of assessing performance using Work Ability Index questionnaires allows you to obtain an objective characteristic of performance.
