Abstract
AbstractLSJ (s.v. ὁµότονος, ΙΙ) offers the definition ‘having the same accent’ for ὁµότονος as a grammatical term. This definition does not make clear whether ‘having the same accent’ involves having the same type of accent (acute or circumflex), having the accent in the same position, or both. This article examines the use and interpretation of the term ὁµότονος in grammatical and lexicographical works and scholia. The patterns of use that emerge reflect an implicit awareness of important structural features of the Greek accent system.
