Abstract
The aim of the work is to establish the dominant trope way of representing the concept UNREQUITED LOVE in English love lyrics in order to determine the stylistic nature of the poetic text modality. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time a study of the model of the concept UNREQUITED LOVE with the nuclear seme “sin” is carried out by the material of modern musical poetry of the rock band The Birthday Massacre. The model is based on N. A. Berdyaev’s existential teachings about unrequited love. The results obtained during the experiment confirm that the metaphorical nature of the text implies cruelty and death as the main components of the phenomenon of “unrequited love”, considered as a sin.
