Abstract

The paper aims to reveal the peculiarities of “Silent Generation” portrait in the novels by K. Ishiguro “A Pale View of Hills” and “An Artist of the Floating World”. The choice of novels for analysis is determined by the fact that K. Ishiguro’s works are based on personages’ memories on pre- and post-war Japan; this is the period of active life of “Silent Generation”. Scientific originality of the study involves a comprehensive analysis of “Silent Generation” portrait in K. Ishiguro’s novels. The conducted research allows concluding that in the mentioned novels “Silent Generation” representatives possess similar internal and external characteristics.
