Abstract

This study was to undertake relationship of isokintic muscle function and gender comparison on contractile properties in lower extremities muscles through tensiomyography. This study was participated with basketball players(16 males and 15 females). The contraction time (Tc) and maximum displacement (Dm) were obtained through the biceps femoris (BF), the semitendons (ST), the rectus femoris (RF), vastus medialis(VM), vastus lateralis(VL). Isokinetic muscle functions were measured at 60°sec and 90°/sec. Dm values were significantly lower at female in the RF, VL, and VM of the left knee flexor, and showed faster Tc values at male in the BF of the right knee extensor. The average powers were significantly negatively correlated with the Tc and Dm of the right BF at 60°/sec and the Tc of the right ST at 90°/sec in the knee flexor and the Dm of the left RF at 60°/sec and 90°/sec in the knee extensor. The Tc of the left VM showed a significant positive correlation at 90°/sec. Conclusionally the contraction of the lower extremity muscle was slightly different depending on the gender, and the correlation between the tensiomyography variable and isokinetic muscle function of the leg muscle was slightly different according to the angular velocity.
