Abstract

The variations of the superconducting transition temperature T c and the magnetic transition temperature T N as functions of the Dy concentration x in the pseudo-quaternary system er 1− x Dy x Ni 2B 2C have been systematically investigated by the measurements of electrical resistivity, magnetization, and specific heat. A second magnetic phase transition T m was observed for the compounds with x=0.29, 0.30, and 0.31, with a concomitant suppression of T c. A similar second magnetic phase transition T m and suppression of T c were also observed for the compounds with x=0.6, 0.7, and 0.8. These results provided the ( T c, T N)- x phase diagram of Er 1− x Dy x Ni 2B 2C system.
