Abstract
Carl Zuckmayer's short story, “Love Story”, permits us to elaborate the theoretical background for the mirror-situation in neurosis and it is shown how the ego in this world determined by the image of the other person is situated. Georges Rodenbach's novel, “The Mirror Friend”, helps us to demonstrate the mirror situation in psychosis and tries to throw light upon the dynamics of the dissociation of the Ego. The role of the mirror in clinical and psychotherapeutical work is shown by a borderline case of obsession and hallucination cured by the method of dynamic structurization of the body image 1 1 Résumé anglais rédigé par Gisela Pankow elle-même à la fin du texte allemand [1]. .
