Abstract

The purpose of this study was to synthesize Poly(3,4-ethlyenedioxythiophene): Poly(styrenesulfonic acid) / Poly-NIPAAm (PEDOT:PSS/PNIPAAm) transparent conductive film with thermal responsible property. In the first part, PEDOT:PSS/PNIPAAm conductive dispersion was carried out by directly mixing the PEDOT:PSS dispersion and PNIPAAm. Firstly, Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) was synthesized through radical polymerization via redox initiator, followed by purification and redissolution in the water for further application. Secondly, PEDOT:PSS conductive dispersion was carried out while PSS was served as a polymeric template. Finally, the obtained PEDOT:PSS solution was blended with PNIPAAm solution to fabricate PEDOT:PSS/PNIPAAm, which owned thermal responsible property and good optoelectronic property simultaneously. In the second part, the mixture of PNIPAAm and PSS was served as polymeric templates to oxidize EDOT and yield PEDOT:PSS-PNIPAAm conductive dispersion. This approach to introduce PNIPAAm was also feasible to exhibit the thermal responsible property for PEDOT:PSS-PNIPAAm conductive film. In this study, PEDOT:PSS/PNIPAAm and PEDOT:PSS-PNIPAAm conductive films prepared by two approach were employed. The optoelectronic properties such as conductivity and transparency of composite thin films with various PNIPAAm proportion were investigated. Meanwhile, the temperature responsible property of the conductive dispersions and composite thin films were also measured. Nevertheless, morphology of film surfaces was observed by SEM & AFM.
