Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzed building cooling, heating and lighting energy performance of the photochromic window (PCW) in various climate zones. Method: Office buildings were modeled using DesignBuilder software, which is a building energy analysis program, and four climate regions-Temperate climate, Tropical climate, Marine climate, and Cold climate were selected to test the performance of PCW. Result: Due to the characteristics of U-value and shading coefficient (SC) of PCW, indoor heat loss decreased in winter resulting in a decrease in heating energy consumption. On the other hand, cooling energy consumption decreased due to less transmission solar radiation in summer. As for the lighting energy consumption, the PCW
