Abstract

The gaseous Cherenkov counter was turned to a pressure which selected pions rather than protons or antiprotons. measured transmission to zero area. Corrections for muon, electron, and proton contamination and for accidentals, mainly in the end counter array, were made. Results, represented graphically, show that the momentum of the system is defined to ~ plus or minus 2.5% and that the absolute scale of the momentum is uncertain by 2%. (L.N.N.)
