Abstract
The nitrilotriacetate trianion in the title compound, [Zn2(C6H6NO6)(C12H8N2)3]NO3·6H2O, is engaged in N,O,O′,O"-chelation to the phenanthroline-chelated ZnII unit, giving a distorted octahedral geometry for the metal atom. One of the three O atoms of the trianion that is engaged in chelation also binds to the bis(phenanthroline)-chelated ZnII unit, whose five-coordinate geometry is distorted owing to a long Zn⋯O interaction [2.401 (2) Å]. The dinuclear cations, nitrate anions and uncoordinated water molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between water molecules and carboxylate O atoms.
