Abstract

In the context of the pandemic, the business tourism sector has undergone a transformation that has had a negative impact on all areas of tourism, including the development of MICE-events in a particular region. Meanwhile, the development of business tourism contributes to the growth of the rating of regions and positioning them as attractive venues for organizing major events and attracting business tourists. The provision of services in the field of business tourism and the organization of trips and various events in this industry of meetings differs from classical tourist services, has special specifics and deserves separate consideration. The basis for the study was the Sverdlovsk region. The authors of the study identified the factors and conditions for the development of business tourism and the prerequisites for its integration into the economy of the territory in the context of pandenomics. The restrictions associated with COVID-19 have significantly changed the approach to doing MICE-business. The article proposes a method for the implementation of cross-functional relations among key players in the business tourism market, which allows achieving a synergistic effect in the business travel market through the exchange of experience between effective participants in the business sector and government structures, as well as by attracting international partners. The analysis made it possible to conclude that MICE-tourism contributes to the sustainability of the socio-economic development of the territory. The authors also developed recommendations for creating a system for promoting business tourism in the region, the main factor in the development of which is the unification of the professional community in the field of tourism and the hospitality industry. The proposed mechanism for the development of business tourism will contribute to the sustainability of the regional sphere of business tourism.
