Abstract

We investigated the low-temperature microluminescence of a heterostructure containing a diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum well buried just below the surface, and subject to a magnetic fringe field of small ferromagnetic island deposited directly on the surface. The photoluminescence spectra of the quantum well excitonic emission taken at various temperatures reveal an additional feature at a low energy detected when the excitation spot is close to the island edge. We interpret this new feature as an effect of local magnetic field at ferromagnetic film edges.
